GunZ: The Duel was a free-to-play online multiplayer third-person shooter created by MAIET Entertainment. The game allows players to perform exaggerated, gravity-defying action moves, including wall running, stunning, tumbling, and blocking bullets with swords, in the style of action movies and anime. The game uses the typical PC FPS control scheme: WASD and Mouselook. However, there are also a variety of moves not found in typical FPS games.

In 2015 MAIET Entertainment ceased operations and sold all intellectual property rights to Masangsoft Games, including GunZ: The Duel, GunZ 2: The Second Duel and RaiderZ.

History[]

GunZ: The Duel was created by MAIET Entertainment and launched the Open BETA in June 2005. This version of the game was very limited and you could only purchase bounty sets, play a few PvP game modes. This version of the game as known as International GunZ.

On November 26th 2006, ijji Games launched and published the International version of the game. This included Clan War and Quest game modes and new narration voice lines. Additionally on January 8th 2007 ijji launched the premium item shop on their website. This allowed players to purchase items with real world currency.

During its' time at ijji, GunZ: The Duel peaked at almost 60k players online at the same time, which was a huge number for online gaming at the time.

ijji Games ran GunZ: The Duel until March 2012, until management shifted to a new gaming portal called Aeria Games. This lasted only 1 year and in May 2013 it was announced that the GunZ: The Duel service would be closing at the end of that month.

Since its' official international closure, there has been no other official playable versions of the game. Once Masangsoft purchased the rights to GunZ: The Duel, the only official version is based in South Korea - where you will need to be a citizen of South Korea in order to play.

GunZ: The Duel can now only be played by other countries on Private Servers. However we advise you to only play these versions of the games at your OWN RISK.
